Exploring the Western Caribbean

My sweet husband took me on a wonderful trip for our 1st Anniversary to Costa Maya, Belize, Roatan Island Honduras and Cozumel. This was our first cruise and it was a BLAST! We went with Norwegian Cruise Line....freestyle cruising!

Day 2 was at Sea- We laid out, played basketball, challenged each other in ping pong, and had lots and lots to drink! That evening we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Cagney's Steakhouse.

Day 4 Belize City, Belize, Central America- When we arrived to Belize, we had to get on smaller boats and be taken to the Island. Belize is known for its WONDERFUL shopping...so we had to check it all out. While Nic browsed the watches, I checked out all the wonderful designer jewelry. As we were leaving for our excursion, Nic pulled out a John Hardy bracelet that he somehow snuck by me. We then got on a catamaran that took us way out where we went snorkeling along the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world!! Still haven't developed those water cameras but we saw some amazing reefs and colorful fish!

I was too overwhelmed and couldn't narrow it down, walked out without anything=(

Family Time

Unfortunately we had an unexpected death in the family the week of Halloween, which resulted in ALL of my family members coming to town, so... Nic and I decided to spend the weekend in Vicksburg --instead of the MSU/Kentucky game as planned-BUT we won the game and we had a blast in Vburg so everyone was happy.

Also that same weeked was the 150th anniversary for Vicksburg Catholic Schools (St. Francis and St. Aloysius) so lots people were in town from literally ALL OVER THE WORLD. Nic and I went to the football game that Friday night (I was being presented for something and they definitely forgot my name- no worries though). I met lots of people that knew my grandfather, my mom, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc... Like I said... there were people there from all over and graduating classes from WAY before my time .

We dined at Rusty's Friday night with a group of friends--our FAVORITE place (we love some fried green tomatoes)! Then spent all Saturday and Sunday playing around with my cousins.

The Queen (a witch in warm ups?) and her bumble bee!

Every year my gma dresses up as a witch (although she really didn't want to get "into it" this year") and my gdad as a mummy and they would hand out candy on their front porch. This year lots of the kids were asking for the mummy and my mom had to explain that he was watchin from above=(

Halloween at the Derivaux House=children running EVERYWHERE!
Costume pictures to follow.... BLOGGER IS MESSING UP!

Thursdays!!

I LOVEEE Thursdays! (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays too, of course) I've always loved Thursdays, I look at them as "Friday Eve"...gay, I know. But by Thursday, my work week is coming to an end, Fridays are usually an easy short day and then WEEKEND!

Usually on Thursdays I'm home, or at least I try to be ...At 9:00, Nic and I put all work aside (cell phones on silent) and have a drink together and watch JERSEY SHORE! (and fist pump, KIDDING)

We really didn't get into this show until this season and now...we're hooked! I often even find myself quoting some of the trash they say... awful, I know.

Its sad that this is the ONLY show I consistently keep up with but its funny and it just gives me something else to look forward to Thursdays for!

Catching up...
Last week I was in Memphis for work and got to hang out and stay with my good friend, Kelly -who was recently married in Jamaica-we had so much fun. I haven't seen her since she got married so we spent the whole night looking at her wedding pics while her sweet husband grilled out for us.

When I got home Thursday night, my sweet husband had dinner cooked and a bottle of wine chilled.

Roasted brussel sprouts, caramalized onions and bacon with steak.

This week I worked in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans so I took this opportunity to see another good friend, Jennifer Davis- Sad to say but I haven't seen her in almost a YEAR=(  She is an Ocupational Therapist in Baton Rouge so of course nosey me wanted to know all about her patients and their injuries, success stories, etc.. We went out for dinner and drinks and had a great time. PS-The Bulldog in Baton Rouge is pet friendly. People can bring their dogs in?! How cool is that?!

All for now... getting ready for Jersey Shore!

Surprise....

~Forty is the old age of youth; fifty is the youth of old age~
The 50th birthday bash was a complete success!! Nic's mom was extremely surprised and couldn't understand how we got all of this planning by her! (she is usually in "the know" about EVERYTHING.) We have been planning this party since March so it seemed like this weekend would NEVER get here! I'm usually pretty good with holding secrets but this one was quite tough for me...but if a 6 year old (nephew, Tyler) can hold it, so can I and we both were successful, thankfully!

We didn't want too much of a fall theme so we stuck with simple sunflowers and they turned out beautiful!
