Bridesmaid!

One of my best friends, Sarah May, got engaged this past weekend and I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED!! For Valentines, Scott (her boyfriend) gave her a gift certificate for a weekend get-a-way @ a bed & breakfast in Natchez. Little did we know-he was planning a proposal!

Sarah and I have been best friends since the pre-school days. We were born a day apart and met @ Small World as babies. Through the years, we have remained best friends. In junior high-she moved to GA but we still flew back and fourth to visit each other. We attended each others high school graduations and continued to visit each other through our college years.

One weekend, while Sarah was in Jackson visiting me-she and Scott met. I had no idea they exchanged numbers and... three years later, THEY ARE ENGAGED!  Scott has been a good friend of mine since high school and I always said, he deserved a good girl. Of course as Sarah's best friend, I was picky about who she dated-I just had to approve! But..lucky for them both-their paths crossed. They compliment each other so well.

Sarah and I went to lunch today and she asked me to be a bridesmaid-I AM THRILLED!

Wild Weather Wednesday!

So I'm driving across the bridge from the East to the West Bank in New Orleans around lunch today when I get a phone call that the appointment I'm heading to is canceled due to severe weather and flooding. Great. I can't turn around at this point because I'm on the (large METAL) bridge so.. I continue to the West Bank to realize...the guy was right. This place FLOODS! I finally find an exit, turn around without flooding my car out and make is safely to my hotel. Damn anxiety...I was literally shaking! Hate driving in bad weather. Hate bad weather, period!  

Done for the day and its only 1. What to do? Absolutely nothing because the weather heading this way is worse. Yikes! Bored in a hotel (downtown New Orleans) by myself... pinterest, facebook and blog...here we go!

Call to check on my grandaddy -he had heart surgery this morning-grandmother informs me, a tornado touched down in Vicksburg on Porter's Chapel Rd. Wonderful. Then...she informs me that Rankin County has a tornado warning right now. Lovely! Sure hope my house isn't blown away!

Happier news... found out Monday that we have a FULL PRICE offer on our house. Was it listed? Nope! Ha. The lady that originally put an offer on our house weeks ago (for that short period it was listed) has called our realtor back and wants to know when/if we are willing to sell it. She will pay full price if we'll sell it. Easy enough. Consider it SOLD! The closing should be on or before April 13.

Most people would be FREAKED out but we aren't. We will be moving to East Over and renting a house from Nic's boss.

Last week we narrowed down our lot search and we are so pleased~ Since then,  we have signed the papers, put earnest money down and now just waiting to close. We are super excited. We picked our builder and hoping the house will be completed and moved in by October!

We have yet to start the building process but to sum up my experiences thus far...choosing a lot and house plan is STRESSFUL! We looked in 10+ neighborhoods and had the same problem EVERYWHERE. Lots are not big enough! Nic would get the dimensions of each lot, draw our house plan on the lot and then explain to me how LITTLE our yard would be. So....this basically ruled out SEVERAL neighborhoods. We finally found a lot (a little under 1 acre) that our house plans fit on well with a big backyard and side yard! Now...let the real stress of building begin=)

I LOVE this saying! I'm not one of those people that post all over facebook "I LOVE MY LIFE" or "LIFE IS GREAT" because truth be told-everyone has bad days but I certainly am appreciative of what I do have. I like to tell myself that I'm much better off and happier than someone that has it "all". What do they have to look forward to?! Nothing wrong with dreaming=)

I have a blog I would like to share with y'all today. This is a blog written by Lauren Casavechia. I met Lauren several years ago through a mutual friend. Lauren married her long-time love, Brent and they had their first child Hayden Brent 9 (?) months ago. Hayden is a BEAUTIFUL little boy. He is by far the best dressed child in the Mississippi Delta and I think its safe to say, its one of the most popular too=) Hayden has a rare disease called adenylosuccinate lyase deficiency. Have you ever heard of this? Probably not.

I'm sharing this blog because I feel like so many people (me included) take small things for granted - to see the struggles of another family might help us to be more grateful and appreciative of the things we have to be thankful for. If you have a child, love that baby unconditionally and cherish every moment. From the smiles, laughs, first steps, first crawls-know that some families never get these. Lauren wishes for all of these things while others take every one of those for granted. Personally I can't speak from experience here because I do not have a child - nearly every time I read Lauren's blog, it puts tears in my eyes. I hope one day I can be a strong and dedicated as a mother like Lauren is.

The Casavechia family have been blessed with this precious gift from God but unfortunately due to his condition, they've had some rough days/sleepless nights...and those days/nights continue.

I know Lauren and Brent are surrounded with lots of love and support but can never have enough prayers. I would like to ask y'all (my friends/readers) to please keep this family in your prayers. Send up additional prayers throughout the day for this precious angel and for this family to continue to have the strength to get through this.

Lauren is a wonderful writer and very inspirational.
