2012 Decorating Trends..

I love following interior decorating sites and blogs so here are some 2012 trends I came across:

  • Incorporating vintage pieces is all the rage for 2012, not only for the go-green appeal, but also because they offer that wonderful classic style. (MOST ANTIQUES NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE!!!)

  • People will also be looking for more great furnishings made right here in the U.S. It’s all about going local, and even more special if the pieces are handmade.

  • Tangerine Tango has been named 2012 Color of the Year. Add a few pops of orange to your décor to keep it fresh and exciting.

  • Let’s start with fashionable colors, which for next year include emerald, ruby, amethyst, sapphire, coral and deep cream. Combine these bold colors with softer ones like ivory, brown, silver, light gray and warm whites for a pulled together look that will be in style for years to come.
Texture is also very hot for 2012. The top trending textures will be a combination of fabrics, such as layered silky fabrics with wool. The contrast is interesting to the eye and still comfortable to snuggle up to.
As far as materials go, the trend for 2012 is toward those with luxurious finishes, such as marble, wood, leather and wool. These materials are easy to slip into any room and will give the entire area a luxurious and comfortable feel. You can also try adding some large mirrors, mirrored tiles or wallpaper with silver details to reflect more light into the room.

Use these tips as a baseline and then customize to fit your own personality and Sabal home. Which of these trends will you try in your home?
