My boss informed me during my "review" this past January that he would like for me to start working towards getting my CSP. (certified safety professional credential). Testing is involved.. Yuck... why would I do this to myself?
He explained it like this.... Accountants take CPA exams that denote a measurable standard of competency, the CSP is recognized as having met professional challenges showing competency through education (4 yr degree), experience (3 years of professional experience) and examinations (2 sections). The CSP credential is "the mark" of a safety professional. No other safety certification holds the same level of demand.
Hm....It certainly sounds good but...I hate exams/test. AND... I'll have to re-certify every 5 years.
What to do.... suck it up and go for it-praying I don't waste their money OR.... push it off another couple of years then blame it on kids (if I have them by then) when they bring it back up.
I do think it would be neat to sign my name... Kelly H. Meeks, CSP =)
But just to get those 3 letters involves a lot of work and definitely a lot of anxiety. I have test anxiety, BAD. And its one thing to be scared of the teacher if you do poorly on a test but in this case I'd be scared of my boss. IS IT WORTH THIS?!
